My new craft area!!

Ok so I really only blog about my kids but I was so excited about this I had to blog it! I have been using a little look in my laundry room for a craft area and it was tiny. (As in 50 inches across!!). Needless to say I really outgrew it the week I created it but have been "forced" to use it. Since Rylins seizure I don't feel I can leave the room when she is sleeping so I moved my beautiful roll top desk into the laundry room and created this space in my bedroom! This cabinet was my sister and brother in laws old entertainment center that they no longer needed. Works great to organize fabric and lots of notions!
I didn't spend any money to create this area which is even better! I used things that people had been nice enough to pass down when they were done with them. This shelf came from my mom. I used mason jars to organize along with little spice jars that were Joes Grandmas. I used a old arrow (yeah I am inventive!) to hold all my spools of ribbon!
I love these little jars!
Mason jars are a great way to organize since they look nice and you can see what is in them.
I was not liking the look of all the ribbon hanging down so I took a rubber band and put it around each spool of ribbon to keep it on the spool.
My sister Emily made me this little hanging garbage bag. It is so handy to have it right next to your sewing machine to quickly drop clippings of fabric and thread in. Not to mention it looks adorable!
My trusty Brother sewing machine. I got his a couple years ago and it is really pretty basic but does its job well.
And this is my new toy! A friends mom was very generous and gave it to me. It is a sewing and embroidery machine and while I have a lot to learn (it even thread the needle for you!) I can't wait to put it to work!
A view of the work space. The counter top came from my parents and it is the perfect size.I put it on a old desk I had gotten at a garage sale for Adrienne a couple years ago that she no longer used. It is so organized I have fabric sorted by knits, cotton, flannel ect so it will be easy to pick what fabric I need for a project. Now if the kids would just go to sleep so I can test out how well I organized everything!!
